1. Inform the Consulate by telephone, e-mail or fax, the following personal data: complete full name, place and date of birth, number of Civil Identity Card, telephone number or e-mail for contact. It is the applicant's responsibility to verify when the Consulate received the corresponding authorization from the Department of Identifications of Paraguay (the authorization is valid for six (6) months only).
2. The following documents must be submitted to the Consulate:
- Two (2) Passport application form, completed with signature and date. - Two (2) copies of the expired Passport. If the Passport was reported missing, submit two (2) copies of the pertinent Police Report. - Three (3) 2” x 2” size color pictures for new Passport. Two (2) for renewals. - Two (2) copies of the Civil Identity Card. - Two (2) copies of Driver License or another valid ID, showing current address in the United States. - Fee for new Passport: US$ 45. Renewal fee: US$ 30.00. We accept cash, Money Order, and Cashier's Check, payable to CONSULATE OF PARAGUAY. No personal checks.
3. New Consular Passport: the applicant must appear in person at the Consulate.
4. Renewals: the applicant’s personal appearance can be excused. In that case, the application must be sent by express mail or courier service and it must include a self addressed pre-paid return envelope, in order to the send the Passport back to the applicant. Applicants are advised to retain the corresponding tracking number; the Consulate is not responsible for missing documents by delivery service. 5. The Consular Passport new or renew is valid for five (5) years. The MERCOSUR type Passport can be renewed for one (1) year. Make sure there is an empty space for renewal in the Passport.
6. Minors under 18 years old cannot sign the application form. The Father and the Mother or the legal custodian must either appear in person at the Consulate to sign the application form, or alternatively they can submit a written authorization signed before a Notary Public. The Minor Permit issued in Paraguay is also accepted. These documents are valid for six (6) months only. In addition, it is mandatory to send two (2) copies of the following documents: minor's Birth Certificate, Passports or valid ID cards of the parents or the custodian and the legal custody document (if applicable).
